CBD (or Cannabidiol CBD as it is also known) is the second most common chemical compound found in the Industrial Hemp plant. Overall we believe there are more than 190 other unique compounds found in this amazing medicinal plant. The two most prominent of these compounds are CBD and THC (the latter is responsible for the psycho-active effects of cannabis). They are called cannabinoids or, more specifically, Phytocannabinoids.
So CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), both derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant species.
Phytocannabinoids – Botanical Wonders
Phytocannabinoids are hugely important in botanical medicine. These naturally occurring medicines derive from plants, including cannabis plants. Complimentary medicine is becoming increasingly mainstream as people look for more natural solutions to health and wellbeing. Increasingly as we begin to know more about the beneficial effects of these complex compounds, we understand more about Cannabidiol CBD.
Phytocannabinoids occur naturally in the cannabis plant and there are more than 85 that have been recognised to date. Some would put that figure at over 190 such is the pace of discovery and development.
There are multiple strains of the cannabis and one of the most common strains being Industrial Hemp, the other Marijuana. Though different plants they come from the same family. Industrial Hemp naturally produces higher levels of Cannabidiols (CBD) and lower levels of the psycho-active Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It is THC which provides the cannabis ‘high’. The primary source of most Cannabidiol CBD is from the industrial hemp plant which is cultivated in the USA and the EU.
Meanwhile, Marijuana plants (perhaps best known for their recreational appeal) are illegal in some states and most European countries. This is because they produce high levels of THC and lower levels of CBD.
CBD (Cannabidiol) – The Benefits of CBD
Cannabidiol CBD is non-psycho-active which means that it will not give you a high of the recreational type. It may improve your wellbeing and produce another kind of high from feeling better. Because of this and because of its other beneficial properties CBD appears more frequently than THC in dietary and natural supplements. It is this Cannabidiol CBD which forms our Dr Buddi CBD products. For more information about Cannabidiol CBD you can see this page on Wikipedia
